Hi Leah,

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that you went through that. I have heard of that happening but they are a few people that it has happened too, relatively speaking. I've done 58 offers and have NEVER had any issues with it and if you really follow what I say to do in the video tutorials at CaliStyle101, you pretty much eliminate the chances of that ever happening.

Here are the steps that I recommend for EVERY offer that you complete:
1. Check out what it says on the main page and make sure you are comfortable with it.
2. Check out the terms of services and make sure you are comfortable with it.
3. Check out what people has to say about the offers in the Offers Discussion subforum at CaliStyle101.com. If there's nothing there, ask people about their experiences with that particular offer.

After doing those 3 things (which I think is essential), you can move forward with certainty that the offer is legitimate. That's on of the pluses about using a community like CaliStyle101.com in your Freebie Trading efforts.

Whatever you do online, there will be a few scammers out there trying to mess stuff up, so you NEED to educate yourself on what to do before doing anything.

Hope this all makes sense to you. All the best!

Leslie I didn't know where else to put this question but what do you think about offers that scam us the people who are trying their services, offers that when you cancel the trials they still bill your credit card or that their costumer service phone is an answering machine. I once sign up for an offer that was 1.95 and 14 day trial I cancel the trial before the 14th day two months later they bill me over $300 for their program I called them and they say it was an error and they will refund but by check when I receive their check I deposited on my account and few days later the bank send the check back to me along with a letter because the check was fake, I then open a dispute in my bank and I was able to get my money back and I found out this company was closed.
There are a lot of fraudulent offer in these freebies sites and we as consumers should be protected too of fraudulent offers.

Hi,

I have a Incentivized Freebie Websites site that I do make money from. There really is no reason to cheat. I came accross your site doing a search for international Incentivized Freebie Websites. I have been looking for some for months. I found one about 6 or 7 months ago and I have not been able to find it again. I thought I saved the site but maybe I didn't. Well when reading your site I saw that you are working on a list of sites that take international members. I would be very interested to know if you did an article on that yet or not. If you have I would love to read it. I really need a list of international sites. Hope to see your list soon.

Nicole, confirmation emails are a little more complicated then that. The reason the mcr requires full headers is because it shows an internet path, essentially a paper trail, showing where that email came from when it was sent from who and to who, etc, etc. That is actually why a lot of sites stopped accepting mcrs for a long time, because people were finding ways to create fraudulent emails. They have just now in the past few months started getting back into accepting them. All of the sites that offer guaranteed crediting still require the mcr to be sent to the affiliate. Basically, the only thing different is as long as the denial excuse from the affiliate isn't fraud or something else bad the site is forking the money out of pocket to cover the credit. I will say one thing about the guaranteed crediting though. Just because a site offers it doesn't mean they won't find a way to not give it to you. During my last sticky I used a network doing guaranteed crediting. Sent every single one of my newbies there. I must have like 20 or more people who completed the sites and were supposed to get guaranteed credit. Only 3 or 4 greened. Some probably didn't follow the instructions correctly for the mcr or never bothered to send it. Some of them though were given excuses on why their mcr wasn't accepted and why it didn't count for guaranteed credit.

in my opinion, freebies is about the easiest money you can make but unfortunately for us in Europe just doesn't work or you have some suggestion how we can do it-if so I will be on a board!

Yes I also am amazed that there is money to be made in the freebie industry but it does require hard honest work, patience, knowledge and skill. What amazes me more is the people who want to channel their negative energy into scamming the industry. If they would just turn that energy around into something positive and put the same effort that they use to attempt to scam then perhaps, just perhaps they would see their efforts payoff!!

Thank you for tackling this subject head on. Everyone needs to know what to look out for in this freebie industry. I'm truly amazed at the amount of people that work so hard to cheat , when the same amount of honest effort would produce twice as many rewards and benefit everyone.

Yep, it's unfortunate that people only think about the immediate personal gain and not the possible and probable long-term consequences. It's that king of thinking that holds people back from being successful. Thanks SBDowntown for your comment.

Larry, I'm glad you haven't run into any scammers or cheaters. I hope it never happens to you. I haven't really been affected personally by any either, but I have heard of some newbies who have. But most of the people involved in the industry are honest people, which makes the Freebie Industry a great place to start making money online.

Very good point Jynifer. You should always follow your gut. Anytime I have such a feeling, I contact a moderator, site owner or support person immediately to try to get them verified. That doesn't guarantee anything, but it does help. I've gotten a number of people caught this way.

So like Jyn said - follow your gut!!

Hi Wendy,

I hear ya. Honest people get put on hold every so often. Freebie sites need to have protective measures in place to protect against scammers. Unfortunately, sometimes innocent people get caught in the crossfire. Fortunately, good freebie sites are usually willing to work with you if they see that you are honest.

When I first started, I got put on hold at Git-r-free, which REALLY SUCKED because they have so many available offers and are a must for any freebie trader. It took me a while (I think about a month), but we were eventually able to sort everything out. I was so happy.

The great thing about the experience is that it showed me how much the Site Owners are working to protect us by whatever means necessary. It shows me how legit they are.

In every business, there are people who would rather take a chance of wasting their time, energy, and money, in hopes that doing the wrong thing will pay off. Like cashiers who steal $20 out of the company cash register. They know that they risk losing a job making $20,000 a year, but they just have to try. And, there are those who get away with it, at least for awhile.

The freebie biz, in my opinion, is about the easiest money you can make. Put in a little time, get paid really well. Yet, some people want to try to do it the wrong way, just to try, even though they know that they could get banned from the sites and lose the opportunity to make this easy money. To some it's worth the risk.

In my business, I have had customers who shopped my store and tried to steal and got caught. What did they profit? I told them they couldn't come back to my store. Still, they thought it was worth it. Do you know the most common things people steal in my store? Items under $30. They risk being prosecuted, banned from my store and humiliated for a $12 pair of sunglasses. Why? They just want to try it. It's a "Nothing To Lose" mentality, and while they don't want to get caught, they aren't so afraid of the consequences for their actions that they will do the right thing. The fact that they could spend an hour doing the freebie sites the honest way and make the same money they will make spending an hour scamming someone doesn't matter to them. They want to try it the wrong way, just in case it pays off.

We all must be on our guard against these scammers, cheaters, liars, fraudsters, because when they take advantage of us, they harm the freebie industry as a whole, too. It's too bad there are people out there with this mentality. Luckily, like I read in an earlier post, many of them are pretty obvious in their tactics and with a little common sense you can often avoid them.

Morning Leslie and everyone,
I hope things are going great and youre having a great time in the Bahamas. I have had great gut feelings about a few traders as well since my year at FLR. It seems you just get this gut feeling and low and behold, there they are a few days later in lunch left. Well, my past week ago, I had a 3 day sticky, I had 3 differnt PM's with different names that said exactly the same thing identical to the scammer M.O.. It is amazing to me that they are not any smarter than that. Also, you can see where they have not only responded to your thread, but to others within seconds. Someone that is new, its gona take them just a few minutes longer to get back to that spot to respond to someone else. There are just so many ways to tell, but sometimes, there is that original scammer that gets ya. I am lucky and have not had that to happen. But others have and its heartbreaking actually, because you know they have spnt their time and effort in trying to be a good mentor for someone like this to come along and swipe your money. I was taught to always go with yoru gut feeling on something and so far, it has been a good thing and I have not been scammed. Not that I have not had them to try, Im just always on the lookout heheh. You all have a great and prosperous trading day!! tootles~~ Jyn

Being new, I have not run into any scammers or cheaters yet. To me cheating is like lieing. It takes more work than doing it right. Using the energy needed to cheat could be put to much better use to earn money honestly. This freebie business is fun and profitable. Lets not let a few jerks spoil it for us.

Hi Diogo, you definitely sound like a blogger (which is a great thing). I'm actually considering doing something similar to that, but looking for Free Stuff, like giveaways. Since I'm branded as "The Freebie Guy", that could be a good angle to work. We'll see what happens!

Carollynne, the more we can do to inform others, the better for them and for the industry in general. I do agree with you there. Training is essential. Lets keep working to making the industry even better!

That's really the unfortunate thing. Unfortunately, there are some smart cheaters out there. They come up with all kinds of ways and there's no way to protect against them 100%. The best we can do is educate ourselves and try to educate the people we work with. The more we know, the less likely it is that we will be scammed.

Hey there Leslie,

So glad I got the chance to meet with you and I am now enjoying a new site that you built for me that I know will reap great benefits. As for cheaters, well I am a nice person, so I wont be too harsh, but if people would just realize that if you just be honest and do it the right way, you will make a whole lot more money, more than once. I mean I truly do not understand why people want to scam a couple of people for 20 bux and get banned. We have to join together against scammers. Freebie sites will be long lived if we do. Great post and I appreciate all your hard work you put into this industry. HOpe you have a great vacation also. c-ya soon. Jyn

I have never tried to cheat a freebie site or been put on hold on one. I did have an offer that initially credited and then was revoked. I didn't even know it until months later, though, because the person I greened it for cashed out on it before the hold was placed, I guess. I only found out when I went to Method 2 and had a referral interested in greening that site for me. I had accidentally deleted my spreadsheet (no worries, had it backed up on an external hard drive) and needed to log into the site to get my referral link. I was shocked to see I no longer met the offer requirements. They had an offer I could complete, though, so I did to get my account back in the green. A little scary, though, for a minute.

I trust my gut where referrals are concerned and haven't been scammed yet (knock on wood), most of the refs I have gotten have been great and very honest.

There are lots of scammers out there, though, and I just shake my head every time I read about another one getting banned from FLR. It's sad!

Hi Leslie,
The freebie world is a wonderful place to meet great people, make some money and gives each of us the opportunity to make even more money depending on the road we choose to take. The sad truth is that no matter how hard the sites try and keep all of the legitimate traders safer and their businesses safer, there are those who would rather spend their time finding out how to cheat the industry rather than become an honest and productive part of the industry. The cheaters will find a way, they always do, no matter what they are trying to cheat. As traders, we need to constantly keep an eye out on the new ways these creeps come up with so that we all can do whatever we can to stop them.

Hi, Leslie! I blog from Japan. I'd like to make a suggestion.

This is not very related to the post itself, but when I read about google searches, it reminded me that I have googled a few times looking for coupons. (Like GoDaddy, HostGator etc.)

Perhaps if you gathered a few discount coupons from certain places, and right to them you placed your affiliate link, you could be creating a new income stream.

I know, not a "freebie", but it's just an idea ;-)

Cheers, D.

I hear ya Paulette. But you'd be surprised at the number of people that aren't too honest, even in the freebie industry. It's an unfortunate fact that we have to deal with and guard against!

I hear ya Paulette. But you'd be surprised at the number of people that aren't too honest, even in the freebie industry. It's an unfortunate fact that we have to deal with and guard against!

Cheers, D.

I agree with you David. In my opinion, Freebie Trading is one of the easiest ways to start making money online. You can start making money in your first day (like I did). Why try to cheat the system and loose that income source?
