How to Record Professional Screencasts for Free with Screenr

September 14, 2009

Social Media

I found this AWESOME Screencast website that I had to share with you. In the first video below, I explain how it works. The audio in the 5 or so seconds where I showed the functionality is a bit screwy, but the second video shows you how it actually turned out. It’s pretty amazing, so check out the following two videos (in order). You will be amazed.

If you are interested in making your own Screencasts, you can check out the website at Screenr.com. It’s a great website with innovations like I’ve never seen online.

You know the drill. I want to hear from you. I love it when people leave comments because it helps me to know what’s working. It also helps me to know what you want to see here. So here are some suggestions for comments that you can leave. Of course, you can leave any other comment you wish.

  • If you test out Screenr, post a link to your video. I’d love to see it :)
  • What is your favorite Screencasting program?
  • Are there questions you have about Screenr or any other screencasting programs?
  • What kinds of screencasts would you like to see here at TheFreebieGuy.net

It all depends on how deep you want to get in. You can be like e and jump off the deep end, or you can be a normal person, lol. Quite frankly, all you really need to get started is a decent webcam. That will at least get you making videos. My laptop actually has a built in Camera at the top of the screen (woohoo Macbook Pro), so for basic stuff, I don't even need to buy anything external. Just sit in a well-lit room and record away.

If you want to do a really good quality on a small budget, I would recommend getting a nice digital video camera with a hard drive built in (makes it easier to transfer to computer). Then I would recommend getting a decent quality USB microphone. Sound really makes the world of difference when it comes to video. You can have great video and crappy sound and it spoils the entire thing.

Actually, this is a great idea for a blog post. Thanks Larry. I think I will put together a post dealing with this topic.

Very interesting. I am looking into doing videos and this seems to be the right path.

Since I am now looking for the equipment I need to do videos, could you suggest what we need, what is cost effective, etc. I do not have a digital movie camera yet. Is that all I need?
