Five reasons why you should build a list

Many people try to make money online. However, the unfortunate fact is that most people never accomplish their goals. I remember when I first started trying to make money online. My mind was not in the right place. This was back when I was in college, trying to make ends meet. The cost of 1 year at my college was approximately $20,000. Now, I don’t know about you, but that was a heck of a lot of money for me.

Because of that HUGE expense, I was almost to the extent of desperation, and anything tried just about anything that appeared as if I could make money – especially the ones that looked “easy”.

A few years later, with almost $6,000 of my tuition money down the drain, I realized that maybe I should do more research and find out what REALLY worked and why, and then implement it into starting my own LEGITIMATE online Business.

After studying under a few GREAT coaches, I noticed that there was one point that they ALL agreed on. If you want to build a stable online business, you need to build a list. Two years later and I must say – these guys know exactly what they were talking about.

Here are five reasons Why you should build a list:

Reason #1 – It helps you to nourish relationships with your subscribers. Lets face it, people are more likely to buy information from those they know and trust. By having a mailinglist with an autoresponder sequence, you are setting yourself to automatically nourish relationships with people who are interested in similar things to you.

Reason #2- Email lists are usually quite targeted. If someone opted in to your email list, they did so for a specific reason. They either did it to get a free report on a specific topic, to get access to a specific program or some other specific reason. If you have been studying internet marketing for any amount of time now, you probably know that the most valuable traffic is targeted traffic. When your traffic is targeted, you can taylor your content to the needs of that traffic and this will help you enhance your success.

Reason #3 – It makes your life easier. When I started my Freebie Trading business, one of the things that helped me do very well was that I had some content that I sent to the people who started trading with me on a regular basis to follow up with them and make sure they were doing well. The problem here was that it took SOOO much time to do this. When I started building my list, I no longer had to worry about it because it was an automatic process.

Reason #4 – It gives you a way to bring people back to your site on a regular basis. Whenever I make a blog post that I find is a particularly good one that can benefit my subscribers, I send out a message to my list letting them know. Anytime I do this, I get a spike in traffic because people are usually quick to visit after reading the message.

Reason #5 – It gives you the ability to promote other useful products/services to that list that can make you even more money. Lets face it, you are building an online business to make money, right?? Most likely the people on your list are somewhat interested in some of the things that you are interested in. Why not share some of those things with them? Many of the most useful products/services people use online have affiliate programs and when you promote those programs to your list and someone buys, you get a commission. It’s a win-win situation because they get something they want and you get paid

Building a list is one of the smartest decisions that I’ve made since starting my business. It is one of the things that has helped me take my online success up a notch.
